Eid Al Etihad: Celebrating the UAE's 55th National Day

On 2 December 1971, the emirates came together as the United Arab Emirates. Every year on 2 December, the country celebrates National Day, also known as Eid Al Etihad ("Union Day"), with flags on buildings, fireworks, family gatherings and celebrations in schools and offices.

In 2026, the UAE marks its 55th National Day. The public holiday falls on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 December 2026. Public holidays in the UAE can be moved by Cabinet decision to create a long weekend, so check the official announcement closer to the date.

Flowers are a natural way to join in: a flag-colour bouquet for the family majlis, a centrepiece for the office celebration, or a thank-you to a host who invites you over.

Flowers in the Colours of the UAE Flag

The UAE flag has four colours: red, green, white and black. Here's how our florists can bring each one into an arrangement:

Ask for it when you order. Every bouquet is hand-tied to order, so tell us you'd like red, white and green flowers with a black box, wrap or ribbon for National Day - in your order notes or on WhatsApp - and our florists will put it together for you, so it reads as the UAE flag at a glance rather than just a red-and-white bouquet.

National Day Flower Delivery in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman

National Day is one of our busiest dates, and roads are full of celebrations in the evening.

Book a morning slot on 2 December. Afternoon and evening traffic is heavy as people head to celebrations and fireworks, especially along the coast and in central Dubai and Sharjah.

Before 1 December is best for offices - most companies celebrate on the last working day before the holiday, so earlier slots fill first.

Where we deliver. We deliver to Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman. See our pages for flower delivery in Dubai and Sharjah for areas and times. We don't currently deliver to Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain or Al Ain.

National Day Card Messages

In English: "Happy 55th National Day! Wishing the UAE and everyone who calls it home a wonderful Eid Al Etihad." · "Celebrating the spirit of the Union with you. Happy National Day." · "Thank you for being part of our team. Happy UAE National Day!"

In Arabic: "كل عام والإمارات بخير، عيد اتحاد سعيد" (May the UAE be well every year. Happy Union Day.) · "عيد وطني سعيد، دامت الإمارات بعزّ وأمان" (Happy National Day. May the UAE always enjoy pride and safety.)

Keeping National Day Flowers Fresh

December is one of the mildest months in the UAE, so flowers last well. Most bouquets last 5-7 days, and chrysanthemums and carnations often last up to two weeks.

• Trim the stems at an angle and change the water every two days.
• Keep office arrangements away from AC vents and direct sun.
• Flower boxes stay fresh with the floral foam inside - top up with a little water every two days.
