Which Flowers Say "Get Well Soon"?

Bright colours lift a room, and low-scent flowers are kinder to someone who's unwell.

FlowerWhy it worksBest for
GerberasBig, bright and cheerful, almost no scentHospital or home
SunflowersSunny and upliftingHome, or a hospital room with space
TulipsSoft colours, light scentHospital or home
Pink, yellow or orange rosesWarm and caring, without the romance of redHospital or home
OrchidsElegant, low scent and last for weeksLonger hospital stays, recovery at home
LiliesBeautiful, but strongly scented with heavy pollenHome only

What to avoid: Red roses read as romantic - choose them only for a partner. All-white arrangements (white lilies, white chrysanthemums) are linked with mourning in many cultures, so add colour for a get-well gift. Strong scents such as lilies, tuberose and hyacinths can be overpowering in a shared hospital room.

Sending to a Hospital or to Home?

To a hospital: choose a compact, low-scent design that arrives ready to display, such as a flower box or a bouquet in a vase, because wards rarely have a spare vase. Intensive care and neonatal units usually restrict visitors and items, so check with the family first. Our hospital delivery guide explains how delivery works at hospitals in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

To home: anything goes, including lilies and larger arrangements. If the person is recovering after surgery, a long-lasting orchid or a vase arrangement means less work for them.

Not sure if they're still in hospital? Send it home, or add a note at checkout, and we'll confirm with you on WhatsApp before dispatch.
